55 Kilometres
Regional Trails Map & Brochure
In Metchosin the Goose can be accessed in many locations with parking lots on Rocky Point Road, at Matheson Lake and Roche Cove.
The Galloping Goose Regional Trail is an old railway line that is now a 55 kilometre trail from Victoria to Sooke. It weaves through Metchosin on the way. It also intersects the similar 29 kilometre Lochside Regional Trail going from Victoria to Sidney and the 17 kilometre E&N Rail Trail-Humpback Connector currently under construction.
You can walk, run, bike and even ride a horse in the rural sections. It is a very scenic way to see our area travelling past a variety of wilderness such as a quiet cove, a hidden lake, rocky outcrops, marshland, canyon land, skunk cabbage swampland, tall Douglas-fir forest, Garry oak and arbutus forest, rural farmland and waterways.
