Robert Chabot

I painted; at first, shapes and colours and light of landscapes. Soon enough portraits, figurative, wildlife, driveways, city streets followed and another element stole into my paintings. Feeling. What I want to paint is what things feel like not necessarily what they look like. Of course, I do that with shape and colours and light.

Urban landscapes lend themselves to painting the wonder and awe, the highs and lows, the known and unknown, which surround each of us. When I am being particularly expressive they are what I like to paint. However; when my mind gets all bent and twisted, I paint landscapes until I am sufficiently tranquilized. You see; my feelings make the paintings and the paintings make my feelings. We are one.

You will see Robert's paintings of landmarks and landscapes throughout this site
